Learn to Unlearn and Relearn

January 2020 and earlier, I always struggling to acquire new skills and have an excuse for lack of time and was not accepting that, I procrastinate :).
COVID-19 pandemic where has locked down the life but has kicked out my excuse of lack of time as well.
There's now plenty of time and plenty of skills as well. Now procrastination helping me here for deciding 1 skill or start multiple skills at a time. {You know, procrastinate people like me always find a reason :)}
Accidentally I came across a book of Josh Kaufman, "The First 20 Hours" which has opened my mind and helps me to focus on 1 skill or project and finish it. His style of writing (i will say it teaching) is like that when we are reading him it started to be an image in mind and you will keep starting the mind map. He writes down some skills e.g. yoga, programming, Touch Typing, Go, Ukulele, and Windsurfing and takes the reader with him step by step.

10 Principles of "Rapid Skills Acquisition

He first gave 10 principles of "Rapid Skills Acquisition" (in his own words below);
1- Choose a loveable project.
2- Focus your energy on one skill at a time.
3- Define your target performance level.
4- Deconstruct the skill into subskills.
5- Obtain Critical tools.
6- Eliminate barriers to practice.
7- Make dedicated time for practice
8- Create fast feedback loops.
9- Practice by the clock in short bursts.
10- Emphasize quantity and speed.

10 Principles of "Effective Learning"

Next step comes when you have selected one skill (by following the above-mentioned principles) then, there are 10 principles of how to learn that skill (in writer's own words)
1- Research the skill and related topics.
2- Jump in over your head.
3- Identify mental models and mental hooks.
4- Imagine the opposite of what you want.
5- Talk to practitioners to set expectations.
6- Eliminate distractions in your environment
7- Use spaced repetitions and reinforcement for memorization.
8- Create scaffolds and checklists.
9- Make and test predictions.
10- Honor your biology.
Here you go, "The First 20 Hours" book explains how can you find 40 minutes a day and in 30 days you can acquire one skill. If you have more time in a day then you can acquire 1 skill in less than 30 days.

Work from Home due to COVID 19

What is the meaning of work from home?

Stay on the job and work from home and be engaged 24 hours a day or during office hours as usual?  

or

It means you have been fired due to pandemic and stay home and work at home :).

Types of work from Home:

1- Office work and create an environment of office at home due to COVID 19 (which is next to impossible). Like if we can work from home, why should we go to the office even for our own business activities.

Laptops do not have such a good camera and have a desktop at is not a norm anymore, when we do have webcams as well for video chat. Sometimes the internet is disrupting and most of the time the first hour of the meeting (if any), we spend saying "are you listening to me?"

Offices and schools are closed, in one room father is attending meetings remotely and in another room children taking classes through e-learning. Everywhere is an emergency situation even at home nowadays.

2- Office work and home-work should also go side by side if you don't have and freelancing. It's time now (due to COVID 19), we can give time to our family, our children and ourselves.

Work from home is even increasing stress levels as long as the pandemic continues. To release stress level, try to be involved in home chores with wife and play with your kids which will be a very relaxing activity.

Now, we will find the solution for both types of work from home. First comes first. To combat COVID 19, I would recommend wearing gloves and masks (surgical).

The problem of cameras can be resolved through buying digital webcams from any online platform like www.amazon.com or www.noon.com, as nowadays shops are closed and we cannot go to buy from the market and world is in lockdown position. Internet speed can be increased by upgrading the internet plan. If you are a host and giving a lecture or providing services online, you should focus on how much upload speed do you have and if you are an attendee then focus of speed should be on download speed to combat the situation of work from home.

The problem of job loss for work from home guys can be solved through freelancing. There are multiple platforms, where you can provide your services like Upwork, freelancer, guru, payperhour, etc,. You just had to make an account and here you go.

For freelancing and field jobs we should always have some skills and we should keep polishing either we are working from home or in the field. Learn new skills, upgrade your existing skills, get know-how about the remote working software, etc. Joblessness is a devastating situation that ruins the personal and moral life of a person. To overcome the obstacles we do have to be fit and to be fit we have to work out from home. It not only releases stress and anxiety but also boost the morality of an individual.

Reading books depending on the interest of fiction, non-fiction, personal development, and cooking as well :) can reduce mental pressure.
